Now we can Store data for 1 Million years

Storing information is a basic human function. From the early times, humans have been concerned about storing information.
Storing information started from carvings on stones and clay, writing on paper, then tape to CDs and DVDs then now in this age we store data electronically using hard disks and micro memory disks.
Hard disks have a limitation that have been neglected for some time until now. Hard disks loose information after some certain years and gets damaged when exposed to heat for a long time. Hard disks can only store data roughly ten years at room temperature, becasue their magnetic energy barrier is low so that the information is lost after a period of time. Cds, DVDs, tape, paper, clay, stones also have limited life. An alternative have to be sought if information is to be retained longer.
Jeroen de Vries at the University of Twente in the Netherlands and a few pals(researchers) have developed an optical carrier that can store data for a really long period(a million years). The device is a wafer consisting of tungsten encapsulated by silicon nitride. Tungsten withstands extreme temperature, to protect the device from heat damage.  A QR code is etched into the tungsten (see picture) and is protected by the nitride. The disk is able to withstand water, fire and time.
